Phil Jones set to get first England senior team call up

Fabio Capello has included Phil Jones in his provisional squad of England for the next weeks friendly against Holland.

Capello found Jones perfomance in Euopean Under-21 Championship impressive and thus has given him his first senior call up. This has been a drastic season for Jones. He has found his value roared as he has signed from Blackburn to Manchester United and the first possible England team call up is another significant event in his career.

Jones said: 'I am 19 years old and did not expect so much to occur at such an early stage. I am just enjoying everything.'

Last week Capello indicated that it my be too soon for the Center Back to break to the senior team but whether he makes into the match day squad is yet to be seen.

Jones could get his chance as he can play both as a defensive midfielder and a center back. The teenager including other 35 to 40 player have been included in the provisional squad which hasn't been made public but the clubs and players have been informed.

On Wednesday Jones told how he was 'just riding the rollercoaster'.

'It has all happened so quickly,' he said. 'I played every week at Blackburn and I want to do the same at United but I am a realistic person and I know that it is not going to happen with the quality of the players we have here. Hopefully, when I get an opportunity I will take it.'

England's friendly against Holland is schelduled 3 days before Premier League kick off and 3 days after Community Shield match.
