Man United win 3 crucial points on the back of a great comeback

Match winner: Berba scores his second and seals all the points
Manchester United played Blackpool today in a game which everyone thought Man United would win without a doubt. But Man Utd. were made worl hard for earning their points against a hard working Blackpool. This game must have been one of the best games of the season.

Craig Catchart who was an ex united player had a sweet comeback as he scored a goal in the 14th minute from a cross by Charlie Adam and scoring a header. In that instance Patrice Evra should have gone back to the post but couldn't return on time as he was receiving treatment and thus Cathcart escaped his marker Berbatov and scored. It was a dream start for the tangerines. No one would have expected them to take a lead. Manchester United didn't defend well. Charlie Adam was at the heart of all the moves made by Blackpool. He justified why his manager doesn't want him to go for a cheap price. Man Utd tried to raise the tempo of the game but in the 25th minute Blackpool almost doubled their lead. Adam delivered a teasing cross which Vidic had almost put back to his own net. But the ball went to Van Der Sar. Man Utd were woeful in the 1st half. Blackpool scored their second goal in the 44th minute. Charlie Adam again being the provider and DJ Campbell scoring the goal via header. The 1st half was a dream half for the home team but a nightmare for Man Utd.

Second half also didn't start well for the visitors. Man United almost got a penalty against their name when Rafel seemed to have hastily challenged Luke Varney. But the referee didn't award a penalty much to the delight of Man United supporters.  Javier Hernandez was brought in on place of Rooney in the 67th minute because of the super sub reputation he has got. Bringing him seemed to be a great decision as the momentum shifted towards the away team. Manchester United started dominating the game. Nani passed delightful ball on to Fletcher who then passed a through ball to Berbatov and the no.9 pounced on the opportunity and scored the goal on the 72nd minuted. Chicharito was once again the super sub who completed a comeback for Man Utd. He beat the offside trap as Giggs passed a ball to him and scored the goal in the 74th minute.

Man United still had a goal up their sleeves and Berba scored in the 88th minuted. It was an enthralling encounter and the visitors got all three points at the end and continued their unbeaten run this season thanks to a brace from Berba and a goal from Chicharito. And now Man Utd have a 5 points lead at the top of the table. GGMU!!!!

Blackpool vs Man Utd preview

Manchester United take on Blackpool at Bloomfield on Jan 25 @ 7:30 P.M. GMT( Nepal time: Jan 26, 1:30 A.M.). Man Utd and Blackpool are facing each other in the top fligt after 40 year.

The tangerines have surprised everyone as they were regarded the favorites for relegation out of the three promoted team but because of their attacking football. They lie in the 12th position with 28 points. Whereas, Man Utd are on the top of the table with 48 points and are two points ahead of the second place Arsenal with a game in hand.

One could expect this game to be quite entertaining as Blackpool have played an attacking brand of football all this season and Man Utd are always known for their attacking play.

                                                                       Form

Blackpool are enduring a poor run of form and have lost four of their five last games whereas Manchester United haven't lost a single game this whole season in the premier league and won Birmingham in the last match comprehensively with a scoreline of 5-0.

                                                                      Preview

In the basis of the current form this one seems a no brainer. And the attacking football Blackpool play with will leave a lot of holes in their defense which will make them more prone to the counter attacking game of Man Utd.
Final Scoreline (Prediction):  Blackpool 0 vs 3 Man Utd

Five star performance by Man Utd againstam Birmingham FC

-By Aashish

Manchester United are the kings of their castle, this has been proven again by the five star performance of today, against Alex Mcleish's Birghimham who were hoping of gaining some good footballing action before their Carling cup semi-final clash with WestHam United. But they were hammered by an all guns blazing red devils.

Berbatov opened the scoring in the second minute with a header from the corner of Ryan Giggs which was flicked on by John O'shea, playing for suspended Rafael Da Silva. It was all Manchester United's play, when Berbatov once again scored in the 37th minute from left side, with assist coming from Wayne Rooney. It was the veteran Giggs in the score-sheet in the second minute of extra time, the assist coming from Rooney again. His 9th assist of the season. Man Utd 3-0 upfront in the halfway mark.

It was the same story in the second half too. Wayne Rooney missing a clear header 2 yards away from the post after a superb cross by Nani. But it was again the hero of the night Berbatov in the score-sheet, just a couple of minutes later. Move being started by long clearence of Van Der Sar, which Rooney controlled very well, before slipping it in the path of Giggs, who passed the ball to Berbatov and he scored the goal from 5 yards from the post in the 53rd min. It was his 3rd hat-trick of the season, the feat only achieved by former RED DEVIL Rud Van Nisterooy and Alan Shearer. Nani, missed more than couple of chances coming from the left flank. But finally scored a well-deserved goal in 76th, switching onto his left foot and then scoring, which he had been trying doing all day long but had failed to find the target. Man Utd now sit comfortably on the top of the table with a game in hand and 2 points clear of nearest rival Arsenal. With Man Utd playing Blackpool on Tuesday, lets hope we'll be on top clear with 5 points. GGMU!!

Manchester United vs Birmingham FC preview

Man Utd. vs Birmingham
Man United take on Birmingham FC at Old Trafford on 22 Jan, 2011 @ 3:00 P.M. GMT( 8:45 P.M. Nepali time).

         Probable starting line up

United (4-4-2): Van der Sar; Defence ( O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra; Nani, Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs; Berbatov, Rooney.
Birmingham (4-4-1-1): Foster; Carr, Johnson, Ridgewell, Murphy; Bentley, Ferguson, Gardner, Fahey; Hleb; Jerome.
Referee: Mike Jones

Man Utd. returned to the top of the premier league table after managing a hard fought draw against Tottenham after Rafael was sent off. It was their eighth away draw of the season. But at Old Trafford Man Utd. have been excellent. They have taken 31 points from a possible 33. They have also netted 29 goals at Old Trafford which is the most by an premier league team at home. On top of that Man Utd are yet to lose a premier league game since April when they lost against Chelsea.

Whereas, Birmingham have had a dismal away record. They have just earned eight points in ten away game this season and in the process have won one game. Birmingham FC have never beaten Manchester United in the premier league. Man Utd. have won 10 and drawn three.

The pre-match stats suggests that only one team can be the winner in this game. But never mind, football is a funny game and anything can happen.

Man United will be without Hagreaves(hamstring) and Valencia(ankle). While Rafael is suspended after seeing double yellow against Tottenham in the last match. Similarly, Park Ji Sung is at Asian cup.

My prediction: There only looks one probable winner in this game that is United. I will go for Man United win.
Final Scoreline(Prediction): Man Utd. 2 vs 0 Birmingham

Man Utd. draw blanks against Spurs

Rafael furious at Mike Dean after being sent off
Manchester United drew yet another away game but retained top spot again.
The game started quietly at the beginning but then just got more entertaining. The first half was dominated more by Tottenham rather than Man United. But Nemanja Vidic really played excellently averting all the threats. Man Utd never quite got going.

Rafael got booked in the first half them consequently got a second yellow and got sent off. His first yellow was spot on as it wasn't a good one. But his second yellow was a poor decision by the refree. And after that Tottenham had a numerical advantage for more than twenty last minutes but couldn't break the deadlock thanks to good defending. Rooney also played well but Man Utd excelled in defending. All the defender of Man United played well. Rafael Da Silva also played well but was unlucky to be sent off.

Yet another away game drawn but Man United have retained top spot only on goal difference but have played two games lesser than Man City who are on top.

Tottenham vs Man Utd. preview

-By Ganesh Adhikari

Preview: Tottenham Vs Manchester United
on Sunday january 16, 4:10 P.M. GMT(9:55 PM Nepali time). Tottenham Hotspurs(4th) welcome Manchester United (1st) in the most eagerly anticipated premier league clash of the weekend. Manchester United are currently at the top of the table with good confidence and ahead of Man City, Arsenal while Tottenham are 8 points behind at fourth spot who are keen on occupying a champions league place for next year. But Harry Redknapp has insisted time and again that they can win the title who has also supported by Man Utd's Ryan Giggs who said -"Tottenham are a serious title contenders and are threat to us.Why cant they win the title?"

Manchester United are boosted by the return of duo Wayne Rooney after missing two matches and Nemanja Vidic who was rested. Keeper Van Der sar has still not escaped with flu virus and might miss the match,Kuszack who insisted to be No. 1 at united will be the goalkeeper. Paul Scholes is a doubt for this match.

The big news around White Hart Lane is of course David Beckham's arrival to train with the team however boss Redknapp couldn't manage him to play for his old club Man United. Gareth Bale who suffered back injury and missed a two day training will return into action. Ledley King and Woodgate are out.
Manchester United are still unbeaten in the premier league but yet to perform at their best while Tottenham are a sparking side at Champions league and EPL by famous win over Inter, have only lost a game against Wigan this season at White Heart Lane and are a difficult side to beat. Red devils have a strong past and unbeaten with Spurs for over a decade.
However my prediction is:
Totenham Hotspurs 1-2 Manchester United

Antonio Valencia injury update

Antonio Valencia is set to miss the first leg of Champions League against Marseille.

He is expected to make a return near the end of February or early March but due to the extent of his injury Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he won't rush him back to action too soon and will give him plenty of time to recover. He also said that Valencia's return would be a great boost for the team.

Get well soon Valencia from my side.

A great goal you have not seen

Paul Pogba aged 17 scored a great goal when it mattered as Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Bobby Charlton and David Gill all were watching from the stand. He seems to have a great future on store.

Man Utd. beat Liverpool

Gerrard being shown red card
Manchester United spoiled Kenny Dalglish's comeback to Liverpool as they secured their fourth round berth of the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory. A controversial early penalty kick from Giggs won the game for United but Liverpool's task was made even more difficult after Steven Gerrard was sent off in the 32nd minute for a reckless challenge on Michael Carrick.
Sir Alex Ferguson made three changes to the starting line-up. Wayne Rooney who picked up an ankle injury against West Bromwich Albion despite making good progress in his recovery was not risked. After playing the last six matches in a row, united captain Vidic was rested with a slight thigh problem and his latest central defensive partner Chris Smalling was put on the bench as Rio Ferdinand and Johnny Evans started in defence. Michael Carrick returned to the centre of midfield in place of Darron Gibson and Michael Owen returned to the bench.
Kenny Dalglish after being appointed as manager yesterday made five changes to the Liverpool side who lost in their last game with Hodgson in charge against Blackburn. Three of the defenders were changed as Martin Kelly, Fabio Aurelio and Daniel Agger came in for Glen Johnson, Sotiris Kyrgiakos and Paul Konchesky. Johnson's wife had gone into labour and Kyrgiakos was dropped to the bench but there was no place in the team's squad for Konchesky. Raul Meireles and Dirk Kuyt were also welcomed back to the starting line-up in place of Joe Cole and David Ngog as Steven Gerrard was pushed forward to start just behind Fernando Torres.
Any match between these two bitter rivals is always exciting and this was also the same as the home side took the lead in the opening minute of the match. With just 31 seconds played Dimitar Berbatov received a pass from Darren Fletcher inside the Liverpool penalty area. After controlling the ball he took it past Agger but was caught by the Danish defender and after an extra stride he went down and referee Howard Webb had no hesitation in awarding a penalty kick. The replays suggested the decision looked a little generous but United didn't spare a thought as Ryan Giggs made no mistake from the spot despite Pepe Reina diving the right way.
That was not the start Liverpool and Dalglish were hoping for but they could have been level in the fourth minute through Torres. Gerrard beat Evans in the air and flicked the ball on Kuyt just outside of the United penalty area, the Dutchman rolled a pass to his left to Torres but from the edge of the area he couldn't get power or accuracy in his shot and the ball rolled harmlessly wide of the goal.
The game began to settle down after its explosive opening minutes and the next vivid chance fell to Liverpool in the 20th minute as Kelly went marauding down the right wing. The young full back was played in by Gerrard before delivering a low cross towards Torres at the back post but Ferdinand cleared before the Spaniard could tap into the open goal. The visitors looked to keep the pressure on but a long range shot from Gerrard sailed over the bar and United recovered.
They were working their way back into the game but things suddenly got much harder for them as in the 32nd minute their captain Steven Gerrard was sent off for an idiotic two footed tackle on Michael Carrick. Rafael played a ball infield towards Carrick on the half way line but Gerrard's lunge was off the ground and mistimed and he clattered into the ankles of Carrick leaving the United midfielder squirmed in pain on the ground. Howard Webb the World Cup final refree was quickly on the scene and removed Gerrard from the incident before penalising him with a red card, and despite protests from his team mates the Liverpool captain looked like he knew it was coming and trudged off to the dressing room leaving his side with an almost impossible task.
The sending off slowed the game down as both sides readjusted to the new task ahead of them, neither side troubled the opposing goal keeper but long range efforts from Maxi and Kuyt showed that the Liverpool players hadn't given up hope of getting back into the game.
Liverpool were lucky not to go further behind from a United corner at the end of first half. The corner was delivered by Giggs from the left and was met by Evans who had got away from his marker inside the penalty area. However the Irishman's strong header crashed against the post and returned back to safety leaving Liverpool with the hope they could get back into the match in the second half.
Man United began the second half in an attacking mode and could have extended their lead on two times in the starting five minutes of the half. The hosts must have been told by Sir Alex to use the width of the pitch and their numerical advantage over visitor as both the chances came from dangerous crosses.
The first started with a piece of sublime control from Berba on the edge of the penalty area, he played in Fletcher down the right wing and his cross found Chicharito in the middle but his glancing header was just wide of goal. A minute later Hernandez was again involved as he was released down the left wing, his cross was too high for Berbatov but it struck Fabio Aurelio and looked to be heading for the bottom corner with some power but Pepe Reina was able to save and avert the danger.
Liverpool were finding it hard to get back into the match and in the 56th minute United had another opportunity from another dangerous cross. This time it was the left foot of the veteran Ryan Giggs which delivered the cross and Reina was unable to claim the ball under pressure from Hernandez but although Berbatov reacted first to the loose ball he misfired over the bar from 12 yards out.
The visitors' first opportunity of the half came just two minutes later as Kuyt got on the end of a right wing cross from Kelly, he headed the ball down to Torres but his attempted volley was blocked away by Ferdinand.
Dalglish's decision to introduce substitutes Ryan Babel and Jonjo Shelvey just after the hour lifted Liverpool and with his first touch Babel tested Tomas Kuszczak for the first time in the whole match. The two subs combined and Babel ran free for long enough to fire a low shot at Kuszczak but he saved well low to his left.
Liverpool continued to press up and following a foul by Anderson on Torres on the edge of the United penalty area gave the visitors another chance to get back into the match. Fabio Aurelio stepped up to take the free kick on the right edge of the penalty area and his left foot strike was curling towards the top corner but united's keeper Kuszczak made a good diving save to his left.
Despite their continued pressure Liverpool still looked weak in defence. Without Reina they could have gone further behind in the 69th minute as the Spaniard made a handful of excellent saves as the ball ricocheted around the Liverpool penalty area. Firstly he punched a Giggs cross away but only as far as Rafael Da Silva but the Spanish keeper made a good save from the Brazilian defender, the ball rebounded to Berba but again Reina made a save from his shot and finally the ball landed at the feet of Evra but Reina denied him as well by tipping his shot over the bar.
Both sides made changes to the strike force with 13 minutes to go and both changes were met by huge cheers from the united faithfuls. Sir Alex Ferguson made the first move by replacing Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez with former Liverpool strike sensation Michael Owen who received a rousing reception from the Stretford End, and then Dalglish's decision to replace Torres with David Ngog a minute later caused further cheer from the United fans.
As tiredness creeped into both sides it was United who finished the game stronger and with seven minutes to play created another chance to double their lead. Giggs and Evra combined down the United left flank, and the Frenchman's deep cross was met by the jumping Berbatov at the back post but he was unable to get over the ball and his header flew over the bar.
The officials added three minutes of injury time at the end of the game which meant Man United kept hold of possession inside the Liverpool half to finish the game off and as Howard Webb blew the final whistle the United fans erupted with ecstasy of progressing to the next round, and getting one over their fiercest rivals.

Man Utd face faltering Liverpool

Manchester United are to face Liverpool on Sunday at 1:30 P.M. GMT( Nepali time: &:15 P.M. Sunday) on January 9, 2011. This game takes place at Theatre of Dreams. This is the biggest rivalry in the English football and you can expect a blockbuster game ahead. The fixture between Liverpool and Manchester United is one of the most significant sporting rivalries in football, referred to as the North West derby. Both clubs hail from the North West of England, they are also the two most successful teams in England, between them they have won 116 honours, 58 to Liverpool and 58 to United at present.

Man Utd. have some good news ahead of the game as Edwin Van Der Sar, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand might be able to take the pitch in this game. And new Man United recruit Lindegaad is also available for the game but Sir Alex has said that he isn't quite ready for this game and Kuszczak  could retain his spot. Man United are having a good season so far as they have made it to the knock out round of Champions League and are at the top of the premier league and undefeated in the premier league as well.

Liverpool also have a strong team on disposal as Gerrard and Torres are both fit. This match could decide the fate of Roy Hodgson as his team hasn't been playing well of late. They have had a terrible season so far as they at no.12 and just 4 points above the relegation zone.

This game seems to carry more importance for Liverpool than Man Utd but Sir Alex has promised to field a strong side and we could be in for a real blockbuster game and don't miss this game guyz. It doesn't get bigger than  this game.

My prediction: Man Utd are in a better form than Liverpool and also have the home advantage so I will be going for a Man Utd win. Man Utd 2 vs Liverpool 1

Man Utd grab all 3 points against Stoke City

Manchester Untied won again against Stoke city thanks to a goal from Chicharito and Nani. They played like they have been all season, not dominating too much but still enough to make a gap of three points at the top.

Nani enojoying this season
Man Utd made six changes in the starting line up. Ferdinand and Rooney were rested for Smalling and Chicharito and both played well. Nani was back from injury. Rafael was back in place of Gary Neville. Nani and Chihcarito combined twice and scored two brilliant goals. First Javier Hernandez scored a back heel goal from a Nani cross which was an amazing finish. Stoke City again equalised through Dean Whitehead's goal. After that Nani gave united a lead with a sublime Nani goal from Chicharito's pass which could be the goal of the season. Owen and Carrick were brought on later in the place of Chicharito and Gibson.

Man Utd now have 44 points from 20 games and are undefeated in this season's premier league. Up Man Utd!!!!!!!!!!!

Man Utd vs Stoke City

Man Utd vs Stoke City
Manchester United are going to face Stoke City on Tuesday night at 8:00 P.M. GMT(Nepali time: Wednesday at 1:45 A.M.)
Man Utd. are unbeaten this season in 19 games but were lucky to get all 3 points against West Brom. Man United are on level in terms of point with Man City and also have a game less.
Man Utd have injury problems ahead of this game. Paul Scholes, Antonion Valencia and Owen Hagreaves are certainly out of this game. There are three more uncertainties for this game. Darren Gibson and Patrice Evra are doubtful for this fixture but Wayne Rooney is a bigger doubt for this game owing to an ankle injury he sustained in the game against West Brom. Nani might be back for this fixture.

Stoke City's defender Robert Huth is available for this game after being suspended for this match.
He was suspended for the game against Everton at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday which they won.
Ricardo Fuller is looking set to retain his place up front alongside Kenwyne Jones ahead of Jon Walters.

Man Utd have just dropped two points at Old Trafford this season. They have the best home record this season and look set to win this game.

My prediction: Man Utd 2 vs Stoke City 1

Man Utd. beat WBA to stay on top

Chicharito

Manchester United remained on top of the premier league table after winning against WBA by two goals to one. Chicharito once again salvaged three points for the league leaders after Peter Odemwingie missed a penalty.

Man United began the game as favorites but their dominance only lasted in the starting few minutes. They scored a goal in the third minute via Rooney who scored his first goal from open play since March, a barren spell of 1,418 minutes. He scored by heading goal from a cross by Evra. After that WBA started to show belief and dominated the game for large period of time. Sir Alex had made four changes bringing in Neville, Fletcher, Obertan and  Kuszczak in the starting eleven and Neville had a woeful game. He looked off pace and was the weak link in the Man Utd team.

The Baggies equalized in the fourteenth minute as James Morrison scored a great volley. After that WBA dominated game for a large portion. Man Utd were lucky not to be awarded a penalty against in the first half when Neville brought down Graham Dorrans. The second half begun with home side dominating once again which made Fergie make two substitutions. He brought Gibson on for Obertan and Chicharito Hernandez for Berbatov who had a quite game. Soon after that baggies were allowed a penalty which Odemwingie shot hopelessly wide to provide Man Utd a lifeline. Soon after that Man Utd were ahead as Hernandez scored in the 75th minute to secure 3 vital points. But Man Utd must be disappointed how easily WBA were dominating them and how they couldn't trouble a makeshift WBA defence.

Anyways a win is a win. GGMU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WBA vs Manchester United Preview

This week Man Utd face West Brom Albion at 12:45 P.M. GMT(6:30 P.M. Nepali time). West Brom have a big defensive crisis as Gabriel Tamas and Gonzalo Jara are both suspended. Even though Jonas Olsson is back in training he has not recovered fully from his Achilles injury yet. Defender Gianni Zuiverloon has been recalled from a loan spell at Ipswich, and midfielder Chris Brunt will be back in the team after serving a suspension.

Sir Alex Ferguson may not be putting Nani straight back into his Manchester United starting line-up as a precaution. The Portugese winger has missed the Christmas programme so far due to a minor hip complaint but he has now returned to training, But Fergie is thinking about keeping him out until the clash with Stoke next Tuesday. Darren Fletcher is among those expecting a recall at The Hawthorns as Man Utd. will look to secure only their second away win in the Premier League this season.

Sir Alex must have been disappointed by the draw against Birmingham but he will look forward to this game to get Man Utd title hopes right on track and to grab the pole position in premier league.

Prediction: Man Utd. would be the favourites to win this game anyway but the defensive crisis will only increase their problem. WBA can expect to be torn apart by Man United. I am going for a Man Utd win with the scoreline : WBA 0 vs 3 Man Utd

Happy new year to all my blog readers!!!
