Happy birthday Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alexander Chapman "Alex" Ferguson was born on December 31, 1941 which means he celebrates his 69th birthday. He must be happy that his team or on top of premier league on his birthday. He was born in Govan, Glasgow.

He is a Scotish manager and a former player. He is currently the manager of Manchester United where he has been in charge since 1986. Ferguson previously was the manager East Stirlingshire and St. Mirren, before a highly successful stint as manager of Aberdeen. He was manager of the Scotland national team for a short time– in a temporary capacity owing to the death of Jock Stein – he was appointed manager of Man United in November 1986.

Having spent 24 years as manager of Manchester United, he is the longest serving manager in the history of Man Utd. after overtaking the record of Sir Matt Busby on 19 December, 2010. His tenure is also the longest of all the current League managers. During this period, Fergie has won a lot of awards and holds many records including winning Manager of the Year most times in British football history. In 2008, he became the third British manager to win the European Cup on more than one occasion.

He was knighted in 1999 for his services to the game(i.e. he was given the title 'Sir' and also holds the Freedom of the City of Aberdeen.

Man Utd draw 1-1 vs Birmingham

Berbatov celebrating after scoring goal
Manchester United dropped two vital points in the race of premier league title but reclaimed their top spot after drawing 1-1 vs Birmingham.

The first half pretty much lacked entertainment but in second half the game got more exciting. There was one  change in the game for Man Utd as Gibson made first start in the place of Park Ji Sung. First goal of the game was scored by Berbatov with a cool finishing and took his goal tally to 14 and leads the goal scorer chart. He finished coolly after the move started with a one-two with Gibson. But second half substitute Bowyer scored a goal in the 90th minute that cost united two vital points. Van Der Sar seems to have been agonized as he though that Bowyer fouled Vidic and had handled the ball.

Sir Alex fumed at the end saying that  the goal that Bowyer scored was illegal as it was both a foul on defendr and a hand ball.

Birmingham vs Man Utd preview

Manchester United take on Birmingham at St. Andrews on Tuesday @ 8:00 P.M. GMT (Wednesday @ 1:45 A.M. Nepali time). Man Utd are on top of the premier league table with two points and a game in hand.

Man Utd will certainly start as favorites for this match as they are in quite a form and are undefeated in this season's premier league. Nani is set to return to the playing eleven. They are certainly gonna miss Park after he has gone to Qatar for Asian cup and Paul Scholes is out with an injury.

Probable XI: Van Der Sar, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Rafael, Anderson, Nani, Giggs, Carrick, Rooney, Berbatov

My prediction: Man Utd might win two goals to zero

Arsenal beat Chelsea 3-1

Walcott celebrates after scoring a goal
Arsenal pulled of a victory in style against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Alex  Song, Fabregas and Walcott all scored a goal for Arsenal before Ivanovic scored one back for Chelsea. After this loss Chelsea certainly seem to out of contention for the premier league unless their is a real slip up from either Man Utd or Arsenal.

Man Utd win via two Berbatov goals

Berbatov scoring the first goal
Man United remained on top of the premier league table after winning 2 goals to 0 against Sunderland.
Man Utd. always looked in full control in this game which was played at Old Trafford in front of capacity crowd.Berbatov who was dropped against Arsenal scored both the goals. His first goal was a header from a glorious cross by Rooney.Man Utd completely dominated the proceeding.

The second goals was also scored by Berba courtesy of a deflection from Anton Ferdinand.Anderson also looked on top of his game along with Giggs but both were substituted after the second goal was scored taking into account the Birmingham game on Tuesday.

Man United vs Sunderland preview

Man Utd vs Sunderland
Manchester United vs Sunderland takes place on boxing day(i.e. on Sunday Dec 26,2010) at Old Trafford. This match takes place at 3:00 P.M. GMT( 8:45 p.m. Nepali time). Sir Alex will be hoping that Man Utd will be able to sustain their no.1 position in the table by winning this match. This week also has Chelsea facing Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Sunderland haven't lost a game against a top team this year and Sir Alex labeled Sunderland's performance against Chelsea as a perfect performance and said that Man Utd need to play well to beat Sunderland. Steve Bruce the manager of Sunderland and also an ex Man United captain hasn't won against Fergie in sixteen attempts. Danny Welbeck who has been one of the best players for Sunderland won't be able to play the game because of the terms in the loan contract which is a good news because he has been in good form off late. Asamoah Gyan said that it is his dream come true facing Man Utd as it is his favourite team. Man Utd have Michael Owen comeback as a Christmas gift which is a boost for Man Utd. Rooney will want to end his goal scoring drought and the match will be an interesting one.

But home support and the no.1 position at stake Man Utd will feel they need to win this game.

My prediction: Man Utd 1 vs Sunderland (Leave your predictions below)

Glazers will sell Man United at a point????

Old Trafford

The Sun had held a Q&A session with Old Trafford Non-executive director in which he quoted that the Glazers will sell Manchester United at some point.

This may mean that Christmas has come sooner for the Man United fans. Many fans still had the Glazers because of the debts they have saddled the club with. The debts is said to be over £750 million(£250 million is said to have already been paid off.)

This could come as a green light for  Qatar royal family, headed by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, to buy United in a £1.5billion deal. Glazers will stand to make double the £790 million they paid for the club 5 years ago.

"The belief is that they [Qatar royal family] have already brought in extra finance from a third party in a bid to set the club up for a sale," a source told the Sun.

Qatar has suddenly come to the limelight after clinching the World Cup 2022 bid and they followed it by a sponsor deal worth £150 million with Barcelona. Barcelona never had a shirt sponsor before.

But if eventually Glazers do decide to sell Man United there are many potential suitors. Even if the time is uncertain Manchester United is the most valued club.

Chelsea vs Man Utd called off

Stamford Bridge on Saturday

Chelsea vs Man Utd has been called off due to heavy matches. In total six premier league matches have been called off so far. They are:
Chelsea vs Man Utd
Arsenal v Stoke
Birmingham v Newcastle
Liverpool v Fulham

Chelsea vs Manchester United preview

Chelsea vs Manchester United
Chelsea vs Man Utd takes place on Sunday i.e. Dec 19, 2010 @ 4:00 P.M. GMT (9:45 P.M. Nepali  time) at Stamford Bridge. Lampard will make a return which is a good news for Chelsea but veteran Paul Scholes will miss the tie which is a blow for Man Utd but in form Anderson will try to fill in his gap.

This game is a must win for Chelsea. If they lose this won they will be six points behind Man Utd and will have played one game more. Therefore, Chelsea will be all geared up for this one. Man Utd haven't won a game at Stamford Bridge since 2002 and will be trying to end that run and if they win this game this will make a huge statement to every other team competing for the title and Man Utd will feel they have one hand on the title. Therefore, this game is a very important game for both the teams. The last six premier titles have been shared between Man Utd and Chelsea. Both teams have won three each in the last six year because of which they are regarded two of the favorites to land the Premier league title. Because of this reason this game could well be the title decider and it is tough to find a winner in this game.

My prediction: Chelsea 0 vs 1 Man Utd (Leave your predictions below)

Anderson signs a new contract to extend Man Utd stay

Ecstatic Anderson

Anderson has signed a new contract at Man Utd which extends his stay to four and a half year. He has been in impressive form lately which has convinced Sir Alex Ferguson that he is good enough to stay at Man Utd.

Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted about the contraction extension and said that Anderson would be a top player and had come a long way after he had signed him. Anderson was also delighted about the contract extension and said that he is at the best club in this world and he would like to thank every one around him who supported and kept faith on him. Park Ji Sung's header seals 3 vital points for Man Utd

Park celebrates after scoring the winning goal
Park Ji Sung's instinctive header earned Man United three vital points which could be pivotal in the race for the Premier League. Man Utd deserved the win. The defense had a great day as they ditched out every attack Arsenal had thrown at them. A header from south Korean on 42 minute proved the difference between the two teams. Wayne Rooney fired a penalty over the cross bar after Gael Clichy had fouled Nani in the penalty area in the second half. Rooney again had a good game but missed the penalty and failed to score. This win puts Man Utd top by two points and that too with a game in hand. Anderson seems to have resurrected his career at Man Utd after another great performance in this match.

At the end of the game Sir Alex claimed that the win was down to magnificent defending from the back four. He also said that Park is in great form and was happy with the way the team played especially in the first half. Ahead lies another important game for Man Utd. The game against Chelsea could be very important. If Man Utd win that game they will be confident of getting back the Premier League title and if Chelsea lose that game it could mean that Chelsea are out of the title race this year.

Man Utd vs Arsenal Preview

Man Utd take on Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday @ 8:00 P.M. (Nepali time: Tuesday @ 1:45 A.M.). This game could be one of the most exciting as well as the most interesting games so far this season. This game has all the ingredients to become a classic. Both teams know the importance of this game as the team that wins this game will be on top of the table at least until the next week. Arsenal are currently on top of the table with one points and have played one game more than Man Utd.

This game could be very important in deciding the title winner as both the teams are neck to neck in the table. Both teams will know the necessity of a win in this game. This game could be very vital for both teams. Samir Nasri has been the best player of Arsenal this season and Man Utd have combined superbly as a team but Nani has been Man Utd's star this season. Rooney is back and has been playing quite good. The only thing lacking for him is a goal and he will likely want to score a goal in this game which would be a big confidence boost for him. Cesc Fabregas has been labeled doubtful for this game and whether he will play or not will be decided at the last hour.

Prediction: This game could be a very tight one but due to home support Man Utd might win 2 - 1

Breaking news: Bayern Munich announce a four year contract extension for Bastian Schwiensteiger

Bayern Munich have announced a four year contract extension for Bastian Schwiensteiger. Earlier reports from Goal.com claimed that Man Utd were closing in on the playmaker but unexpectedly he seems to have signed a contract and extended his stay at Bayern Munich.

Man Utd begin transfer talks with Bastian Schweinsteiger

Schweinsteiger to Man Utd???
According to goal.com UK Schweinsteiger's representatives have already held talks with Manchester United about a summer transfer. Real Madrid and Chelsea both are said to be interested on him but the source claims that transfer talks with Man Utd have already been held.

If Man Utd are able to land him it would be a huge sign of intent from Man Utd that they have still got the funds to compete with the biggest Europeand heavyweights.

Manchester United to offer Anderson new contract

Man Utd are set to offer Anderson a new contract in order to keep him at Old Trafford for the long term future. The Brazilian has impressed in the last few games and also scored a vital goal against Valencia. He has repeatedly been linked with a move away from Man Utd but as both Man Utd and Anderson are eager to sign a new contract he may have a future at Man Utd.

Owen Hagreaves Man Utd career set to end

Owen Hargreaves career at Man Utd over???
Owen Hargreaves career seems to be on the verge of end as he has been told by the management of Man Utd that he no longer has a future at Man Utd according to the Daily Star. Another report claims that Jonny Evans after his woeful season so far will be sent on loan to regain his confidence. He is reported to have got the hairdryer treatment from Sir Alex Ferguson after the match against West Ham in the Carling Cup in which his poor defending cost united two goals.

Fergie set to eclipse Sir Matt Busy as the clubs longest serving manger

Sir Alex Ferguson
When Man Utd and Arsenal face off Monday Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson will have collectively managed the clubs for 38 years. And when Man Utd face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge he will overtake 24 years, one month and 13 days spent at the club by Sir Matt Busby. All time Premier League table of all the matches played so far

Man Utd top in the all time Premier League group also

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Man Utd top their group

Man Utd topped the group after a draw against Valencia. Ferguson made a surprise selection after giving goalkeeper Ben Amos his Champions League debut and he didn't do much wrong. Fabio was kept in the team in place of rested Evra. Ferdinand was substituted just before the half time after taking a knock and Chris Smalling came for him. First goal was scored by Pablo Hernandez and Anderson scored a rare goal which was the equalizer. As Man Utd salvaged a point from this game they topped the group. But because they conceded a goal they lost the chance to be the first team in Champions League to not have conceded a single goal in the group stages. But after drawing this match Man Utd have avoided the Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona for the next stage. Up Man Utd.

Sir Alex Ferguson to change his time for 150th time in a row

Sir Alex Ferguson will be changing is team for 150th time in a row which shows what a thinker he is. The game against Arsenal takes place after six days so he has quite some time to prepare for that game so he is going to field a strong team against Valencia in order to avoid big guns in the next round.

Man Utd vs Valencia Preview

Tommorow Man Utd face Valencia in their last league game of the Champions League. Man Utd only need one point to top the group and avoid other top guns. So Sir. Alex may field a strong team. Berbatov and Rooney may start the game and Hernandez may be forced into the bench for this one as Man Utd will want to top the group. So Man Utd will start the strong favorites and as the game is at Old Trafford expect Man Utd to win it. And if they win this game without conceding a goal they will be the first time ever in the history of the Champions League to not have conceded a goal in the group stage of Champions League. The match kicks of @ 7:45 P.M. GMT.(1:30 A.M. Nepali time)

My prediction: Man Utd 3 vs 0 Valencia

Gary Neville to retire, Arsenal on top and Chelsea on third

Gary Neville is set to retire at the end of the season and may be appointed as the reserve team coach. Manchester United's game was postponed due to frozen pitch. Arsenal pounced onto the opportunity by winning the game and reaching the top with one point. But Man Utd have played one game less. Chelsea on the other hand continued their woeful run and drew the game against Everton and are a point adrift Man Utd with a game more played.

Man Utd handed £100M to rebuild their squad

After the Carling Cup failure Ferguson told the board that he had to make big signings. Hence, he has been supplied  £100M to rebuild the squad. It will certainly surprise all the Man Utd fans. He will be using the bulk of this transfer kitty in the summer and the many of the players are thought to be on the verge of being sold. Anderson, Michael Carrick, Jonathan Evans are all said to be in the danger of being sold if their performances don't improve. Fergie is said to be keen in buying a world class striker too.

Man Utd vs Blackpool postponed

Man Utd's  match against Blackburn has been postponed due to frozen pitch. The temperature has been below 8 degree celsius and as there is no underground heating system in the Blackpool's stadium the game is no longer possible and has been postponed. Which means if Arsenal and Chelsea win today the will go above Man Utd, but Manchester United will have a game in hand.

Man Utd unepxpectedly crash out from Carling Cup

Man Utd crashed out of the Carling Cup as their 29 game unbeaten run after hammer scored 4 goals against a young Man Utd team. It was a bad team display and hammers hammered the red. Sir Alex was disappointed by the way Man Utd were defeated by hammers. Anderson lost the form he showed against Blackburn. Ryan Giggs was looking rusty. Jonathan Evans had another disappointing game. Jonathan Spector scored a brace. Carton Cole also scored two goals. Arsenal won their tie and now are the favorites for the Carling Cup grown. But it's just a learning curve for the youngsters so don't get worried a lot people. Jonathan Spector was a Man Utd player in past so he haunted Man Utd.
