Farewell Old Trafford |
It had been less than 9 minutes on the field when Patrice Evra rolled the ball back for the mid fielder to blast a thunder past Brad Friedel. This goal brought the full house crowd in Old Trafford to fire.
United went further up when Ashley Young was brought down in the area and Wayne Rooney thundered the ball in off the underside of the bar.
In the second half, Anderson and Danny Welbeck played a neat one two before Anderson provided a sublime finish to make it 3-0. As Steven Dimirov headed a glorious chance inches wide, Welbeck pounced on some poor defending following a Wayne Rooney cross.
Scholes hit a free kick wide while Tom Cleverley and Welbeck showed their quality to assist Mame Biram Diouf. Diouf went for a full bloodied drive to make it 5-0. He then went unchallenged add his second and United's sixth of the night.
Scholes made his way for promising youngster Paul Pogba but not before delivering some classic long range passes that drew gasps from the audiences. United move for the Manchester derby at the Community Shield in a couple of days but they will always be coming to terms that they will be without their influential mid fielder in the season.
Scholes will always reside on the heart of millions of football lovers around the globe.
