Gabriel Obertan against CSKA Moscow |
Manchester United's winger Gabriel Obertan has agreed a five year contract to join the toons. It is said that Obertan had been wanting a transfer since January.
Obertan move to the Tyneside club has been finalised and their coach Alan Pardew believes that Gabriel Obertan's 'best years are ahead of him' after completion of the deal that is believed to be worth £3.25million .
Obertan has signed a five years contract and is the fifth signing of Newcastle. He has passed a medical and is expected to go straight onto the first team.
Alan Pardew added: 'Gabriel is a player I’ve watched for the last couple of seasons since he arrived at Manchester United,'
'He has great pace and excellent technique and he has improved his power in the last 12 months and is ready now to make a real impact in the Premier League.
'I contacted Sir Alex about him early at the start of the summer to see if there was an opportunity to bring him to Newcastle, but it wasn’t until Wayne Routledge joined Swansea that we were able to bring him in.
'His best years are ahead of him which is exactly what we want at this club, and with the backing of our magnificent fans I’m sure he will prove an excellent signing for us.'
Manchester United already have many players who can play on the wings, so Obertan opted for a transfer due to lack of first team action.
